Astronomers are worried that the newly unfurled BlueWalker 3 direct-to-mobile cellular satellite is going to mess with the frequencies used by radio observatories on earth. It is also, at 64 square meters of antenna, one of the brightest objects in the sky, and unlike the International Space Station, which astronomers can track and avoid by moving cameras or closing shutters, the BlueWalker 3 manufacturer, AST SpaceMobile, is not providing astronomers with its location data to do the same.
We anticipate that this new object in the sky will cause a spike in National UFO Reporting Center filings, as it is much brighter than the Starlink satellite strings, which likewise caused many new UFO filings when they started to appear.
