November Re: Out There, Oct. 2007
Editor: Every month I read all the columns and stories in each issue there is always one article that will make my heart pulse and I just want to jump up and down and say "THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I THINK!!!" and sadly I am never able to quite articulate it as well as your talented writers do. So there I was taking a nice post-dinner bath and I read Kate Mucci's column in the October 2007 issue of UFO Magazine and I had to get out of the bath and get on the computer to send this letter. I have to tell you she really hit the nail on the head with her "Out There" column. She is 100% right. Why does the History Channel, Discovery, and all the news networks even bother to cover the subjects of UFOs if all they are going to do is edit the experts to look like quacks, then wrap up the show with a debunker saying "It's fun but it's all rubbish." The History Channel did this with the 9/11 "conspiracies" as well. The news channels (like Kate mentioned) all cover the exact same stories and they never go off script. It's so bad right now that I see Ron Paul signs all over every town I visit and yet the media is telling me that Clinton and Gulianni are the leaders and Ron Paul is some whacko the public will never vote for, despite having won more straw polls than anyone else, mind you. Who are they fooling? It's gotten so bad that unless I am watching a DVD then why even bother turning on the television? I'd rather read a book or magazine and obtain unbiased knowledge. Hey, maybe even go for a bike ride or nice jog to see reality and not the zone out to the "boob tube"... It is rather sad because I use to be so excited when there was a show on about UFOs, Atlantis, and all the other esoteric/paranormal subjects. These days I see that something is comnig on and I say "Why bother? They are just going to go over stuff I already know and then make it all sound like it's a joke. Sadly this is the truth. What is the point of the History Channel's "The UFO Files" if they are just going to dismiss everything at the end of each show? My guess is that they can show you the truth over and over and as long as some talking head is telling you there's nothing to see here then no one will believe it and sadly the people will believe the tallking head despite the facts!!!! Imagine 25 years of showing Roswell or Area-51 and all the while we are numb to it. The end result is the day they officially say it's real is the day everyone will be more concerned with Britney Spear's children than disclosure. Television has become the biggest debunker in the world, not only on the subject of UFOs but on the subject of reality! Big corporations make an official version of reality and all the people follow it despite the fact that there might be a UFO landing in your backyard, or the fact that your neighbor is supporting a presidental candidate who doesn't work for big corporations. Cheers to Kate Mucci for a wonderful article and cheers to UFO magazine for having to have more relevant things to say in one issue than an entire month of television!!!! Regards, Comments on Serena Taylor Article
Editor: First off, I believe in the existence of ETs visiting this planet. I have bought many issues of your magazine in the past. I am not a debunker, but I couldn't help but see bias/lack of reason in this article. I read the Serena Taylor article, and was unconvinced of the validity. I have a few points that are reasonable. 1. The first being the alien photograph. I do see the outline of a head, but it could really be anything, it is just a black blob. The photo doesn't contain the dark eyes or pink mouth, and if it does, it isn't visible. It could be anything, and it wouldn't be reasonable to assume it's an alien, based on the vague detail. 2. The story of Diego Segarra is compelling, but raises questions. If he got footage that sensitive, as described, of the gray aliens exiting the craft, why didn't he make a copy of the video for safe keeping? If his friend did talk about it at his job, which one of the people he talked to would have reported it to the local government and why? How close were they to the UFO to when they shot the footage, or how far away was the bush? It seems unlikely that they could have made out the fine detail of sunglasses if they were far away, or close enough to make out the details without being spotted. 3. Serena went there with a purpose in mind. If you try to hard to find something, you will "find" it, but it won't be what it really is. The photograph was vague in detail. The question is: "What would a gray be doing in the middle of the day, coincidentally, watching Serena in the open?" She even talked about a "voice in her head" that told her the alien was in the photograph. She was on a quest to find something that correlated with her "voice". Overall, I think she tried too hard to "find" something on her trip. It wasn't concrete enough to be an article. Thank you for your time. She is a talented writer, but I wanted to include some equal perspective into what Serena might have encountered. Hanger 18 |
